My dad didn't pass any records down to me because we didn't share taste in music for the longest time, as I found Jazz and Classical - the two genres HE LOVED and primarily listened to - boring until I came around to them in my mid 20s when Anthony Fantano @ The Needle Drop, the internet's busiest music nerd, turned me on to LA saxophonist Kamasi Washington. I fell in love with his triple album "The Epic" IMMEDIATELY when I first heard it in 2015 and I proceeded to find my Scene over the following 9 years, that being the UK, an incredible class of the following artists: Shabaka Hutchings & The Ancestors, Theon Cross, Sons Of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming, Melt Yourself Down, Hampshire & Foat, Yazz Ahmed, Nubya Garcia, Soweto Kinch, Ezra Collective, Alfa Mist, Kamaal Williams, Yussef Kamaal (a one-off collaboration of Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams), Blue Lab Beats, Ashley Henry and Poppy Ajudha. As for Classical, I found SOUNDTRACKS the most appealing avenue because they stimulate in my mind the remembrance of my favourite moments and experiences in TV Shows, Movies and Video Games. For ex: THE TEARS FLOWED when I listened to the second disc in my copy of "Assassin's Creed: Leap Into History" (featuring the music from 9 games in the series pressed on 5 LPs, Ubisoft -- the studio behind this game series -- issued this Box Set to celebrate 15 years of Assassin's Creed) after it arrived in the mail the other day. I was emotional because the second disc is the music/Soundtrack of Assassin's Creed II, MY FAVOURITE GAME OF ALL TIME for the following reason: My parents took me out of my 2nd Semester of Grade 12 in 2007 (which you Americans know as Senior Year) for the sake of spending 3 months in Europe, a trip which included seeing Florence, Venice, Ravenna, Siena, Naples and the Amalfi Coast over 3 weeks in Italy. However, my grades in my 1st and 2nd Years in University (I pursued a Bachelor of Design in Illustration at OCAD U, Ontario College Of Art & Design University) were good enough that I qualified for participation in the school's Exchange Program, which allowed me to spend my 3rd Year (from September 2009 to May 2010) abroad and I chose attending SRISA -- the Santa Reparata International School of Art -- in Florence BECAUSE THE CITY WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS of my time in Europe with my family 3 years earlier. So, the breaks I had in the School Year afforded my friends and I opportunities to see other cities and places, such as San Gimignano, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Montiriggioni, Ferrara, Verona and Bologna.... BUT I STAYED in the country for around 2 1/2 more months in light of finishing my Exams for the sake of continuing to see places my family and I didn't get around to when we were there. So, in particular.... I returned to Venice, went to Rome, Milan, Genoa, Naples and Palermo (on Sicily). How does this relate to Assassin's Creed 2? BECAUSE IT'S SET DURING THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE AND SEEING THE RENAISSANCE VERSIONS OF FLORENCE, VENICE, ROME, SAN GIMIGNANO AND MONTIRIGGIONI RECREATED IN A GAME ENGINE BLEW. MY. FLIPPING. MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND. The game also has a rather tragic story AND THERE'S NO BETTER SETTING FOR A TRAGIC STORY THAN ITALY IMHO.

what an amazing adventure, and with the soundtrack being assassins creed too, I wish I spent more time in Europe , hope to one day visit Italy too. video game soundtracks is the new classical genre :)

lucky my husband and the kids love video games and have been spending more time playing, which allows me to film lol My dad likes REM too. He wasn't really into sport but LOVES BOXING, he watches old matches on UA-cam. He likes Simon and Garfunkel, he's the one who introduced me to them, he would also play the Bryds "Turn Turn Turn" a lot. I dont own the Frank Sentra Nancy Duet, but a subscriber said the song "Something stupid" is on a 45'.

Last two years its kinda boring again, although I haven't seriously listened to the new Calypso Valois-album but didn't grab me at first listen - she's the daughter of Eli Medeiros and Jacno. I don't have any of her music, but I know who Francoise Hardy is. We've been losing a lot of people lately, it seems. RIP, Ms. Hardy. This is a nice video tribute you made, not too long, not too downbeat, just right. I remember when Terry Kath of Chicago passed away, it was a surprise. I wondered if their sound would change; unfortunately (in my view), it did. A similar reaction occurred when I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan passed; he was so good, and now there wouldn't be more music from him. As for Francoise Hardy, you do have LPs and CDs of hers so you can relive all the memories associated with them. She lives on through those recordings.

Tower was in Nanuet across the Mall and in Paramus NOT at any malls. Apple boring? amazon boring? spotify boring? I can see the cd's he has alot but does he have great albums or just cd's example great albums would be like Kiss- Destroyer - self titled Rush - Moving pictures cd's just to have would be like Van Halen - Balance , kiss - Sonic Boom? does he like bands middle years and does he have any of their albums? Ac/dc - Flick of the switch? Ac/dc- Fly on the wall? Black Sabbath - Technical Ectsay? Black Sabbath- Never say die? Judas Priest - Ram it down? Judas Priest- Painkillers? Kiss - Creatures of the Night? Kiss - Lick it up? Kiss - Animalize? Iron Maiden - No Prayer for the Dying? Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark? Ozzy Osbourne- No More tears? Van Halen- Balance? Hi Mark! Tempo Records was an LA-area chain of about 25 stores. They were around from about 1975 to 2000ish if I recall. Great stores! I'm still close with many of the folks that worked throughout the chain. I started as a shopper in junior high at my local store, then they hired me, and then I was their Capitol Records (and later Vanguard Records) sales rep, so I have a lot of history there.

ALOHA MonieMuse Great interview . I enjoy hearing about other people in the VC & how they started collecting or the business side of their Company. I'm going to check out his channel & subscribe thanks to you & this interview. All areas you all talked about was interesting. When he mentioned one of my favorite early 1970's Drummers & Singers Buddy Miles I was like I need to watch that video of his. I was blessed to see Buddy Miles preformed here in Honolulu, but it was in the 1990's but still was a good show. Monica I really enjoy these podcast interviews, hope to hear & see more soon. Hi Monica - I was in a similar position to Vince at Arista in the 80's. I subbed to his IG. Cool he worked with School Of Fish who were real good ( 3 Strange Days their most popular song ) Excellent interview ! I liked Virgin Megastore on Sunset & when I was a teen I used to go to Music + in Westwood because the record company my Dad worked for had an account there so I could get free records ( I used to special order imports & independent label stuff ) Fun times !

Hi David! Thanks for checking it out - and my IG for that matter! Gotta love those record label accounts at record stores! I had a girlfriend in college who's dad was in the biz and his account was at Music Plus on Vine Street. While I never went there personall to shop on the account, he'd give me a copy of the Billboard Top 200 and have me circle anything I wanted then brought the home for me. It was awesome!

It's not a band for young girls. My husband and I are in our 50s and 60s. My boys are 13 and under. I think the oldest fan I encountered was 76. All genders, all ages, all income levels, etc. The overarching message they deliver is taking care of your mental health. This song is one example.
